Hear ye, Hear ye, Everybody!
This message has got to be told:
Today is Laralynn's birthday
Would you guess she's now one year old?
They say: Time passes so quickly
When people are having great fun;
And, yes, the time we spend with her
Is like a picnic in the sun.
No one here taught her how to dance,
But at the sound of sweet music
She sways and dances like a pro
I think this is quite fantastic!
She loves to sing or she tries to
Which makes us adults laugh with her;
Heaven forbids she would grow up
To become an entertainer.

She now gets into everything,
She opens drawers and empties them,
She climbs the bed and furniture,
And scatters toys throughout the realm.
She gets into dire predicaments
Like squeezing into a tight space
And unable to free herself
From a furniture's snug embrace.
Fearless, determined, trustful
These fully describe her young life;
Perchance it's the reason Christ said:
"...Of such is the Kingdom on High"?
No, she hasn't as yet climbed trees
Scraped her knees or whistled on the stairs,
But give her enough time and space
And she'd do that which no one dares.

Oh, there's a lot of things to do
For a strong, healthy one-year old;
Give her the freedom to explore
Every inch of her tiny world.
Teaching her to be organized
Seems difficult to be accomplished,
But it should be done in order
For good habits to be established.
She needs to be taught when quite young
When it's easier to bend the twig;
Mold her character now, Mom and Dad,
Don't wait till she is really big.
Laralynn is a precious child
Teach her to love and obey God
And to be helpful to others
As she walks on this earthly sod.

Just think, a year ago today
Through problems in delivery,
We would have lost both Mom and child
Hadn't God intervened quickly.
In gratitude we lift our hearts
In songs of praise and thanksgiving
That it's only through Him alone
We live and move and have our being.
Yes, let's praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Let's lift our hearts to heaven
And praise the Lord.
So, Laralynn, Happy Birthday!
May you grow up to love Jesus
Who died for you that you might live
With Him through eternal ages.
