LARALYNN IS TWO YEARS OLD

It seems like only yesterday
Laralynn Rose was one year old;
Now she's two and we're praising God
For His love and blessings untold.

We must pray for grace and wisdom
To train this sweet, precious child right
That she might grow up to love God
And do things pleasing in His sight.

Molding clay before it hardens
Is not a difficult task to do;
Developing character now
Must be done for this child of two.

She wants to be independent
She wants to do things her own way;
Sometimes she cries for what she wants
And does not always want to obey.

bullet

While this is to be expected--
The nature of the "terrible twos"--
We need not throw in the towel
And succumb to the child-care blues.

Abundant help is on the way
Not from Dr. Benjamin Spock;
Parents who follow his teachings
Are in for a tremendous shock.

bullet

This famous child doctor's teachings
Do not include "spare not the rod"
What we must come to grips with is
This timely counsel came from God.

Who are we to follow--God? Spock?
The fruit of Spock is evident--
Children who are unthankful, unholy,
Unhappy and disobedient.

bullet

The Lord's way is the path to life
Following Him, we can't go wrong;
This precious child, Laralynn Rose,
Will grow in Jesus, big and strong.

She knows the concept of sharing
As contrast with "It's mine! It's mine!"
Little by little the twig is bent
The character is shaped--all is fine.

bullet

May she continue to grow in grace
That she might give us great solace
Knowing she is a stone polished
After the simulitude of a palace.

God has crowned her with glory and honor
And rejoiced over her with singing;
He has promised her a place in Heaven
Where the golden bells are ringing.
